Han Dynasty
As stated above, most people living in ancient China time were peasant farmers. The peasant farmers' sons went to school during the day. Most went to the Grand School in the capital city. This school had an enrollment of 30,000 students. The peasant farmer's sons had a different education than the sons of the rich. These children didn’t go to public school, but they were tutored at home or in small groups. As you would assume, the poor had it worse than the rich. In the city the poor lived in small tenements. Also, there was little food in the city. Another downfall of the city was that gangs roamed the streets. The conditions of poor in the city was very dangerous. They were much better off in the countryside. While the didn’t own the land they farmed they had their own house and a bountiful amount of food. On the other hand, the rich had luxurious lives. There clothing was nothing like the simple woven clothes the poor wore, but they wore silk robes with belts. Their houses were extravagant with cashmere carpets and colorful drapes. The rich and poor had extremely different lives. The Han dynasty also followed the philosophy of Confucianism which was created by the philosopher Confucius. Confucianism is focused on respecting everybody, and having good manners. The Han dynasty had a good daily life for the poor as long as they lived in the country, and the rich always had a great life.
